Good Old Tie

Good Old Tie
There's something about a nice tie for a man that never really goes out of style, and it turns out ties have been in style a REALLY long time. In 221 BC, China's first emperor and his life size terra cotta army were entombed, each wearing a necktie. Early Roman orators wore neckerchiefs to keep their vocal cords warm. In 1784, an English fashion authority was said to be the first guy to use a neck cloth for sheer style. But it was the French, of course, who came up with the first variation of a designer tie in the 1920's, made from expensive materials with elaborate patterns.
In the 1800's, touching another man's tie, or cravat as it was called back then, was considered taboo and a challenge to a duel.
